Honoring Silent Day at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua Bali

TO acknowledge Nyepi Day on 7th March 2019, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali presents a thoughtful program of low-key activities with a special focus on personal renewal. Commonly referred to as the island’s annual Day of Silence, this auspicious holiday is a time of reflection and quiet contemplation for followers of Bali’s Hindu faith.

According to Dewi Anggraini, Director of Marketing Communications said Nyepi is the first day of the New Year in accordance to the Balinese Saka calendar. It is celebrated with 24 hours of inactivity whereby the entire island comes to a complete standstill.

“This is preceded by an evening of festivity where giant monster effigies are nosily paraded through the streets. The lead up to Nyepi involves time-honored rituals with offerings to appease evil spirits and restore balance to Bali for a fresh new start,” she said.

Anggraini also mentioned that for guests looking to getaway and experience this unique holiday in tropical surroundings, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali is offering a restful Nyepi package that is all about relaxation. Our rate starts from just Rp1,900,000++ per room/per night to stay in a Deluxe Garden Room with a daily breakfast for two adults and two children. This special offer also includes a complimentary buffet dinner on Nyepi Day and fun pastimes at The Westin Family Kids Club. Terms and conditions apply.

“On the eve of Nyepi Day, Ikan Restaurant will be hosting a traditional dinner to celebrate Balinese New Year with local cuisine and cultural entertainment on the beach. The next day, all guests will be required to remain within the resort and so a flavorful international buffet dinner will be served at Seasonal Tastes from 6.30pm onwards,” she added.

As Nyepi essentially represents revitalization, Heavenly Spa by Westin has put together a nurturing menu for the pleasure of in-house guests. There is a choice of two exceptional treatments using natural ingredients to refresh tired skin. The Melasti Ritual takes indulgence to the next level with a traditional body massage and gentle scalp therapy. Alternatively, the Brata Ritual involves a facial, body scrub and massage for an experience in sensory rejuvenation.

She pointed out that a guided session of Trataka Meditation will also be conducted on Nyepi Day by resident Wellness Specialist, Jitendra Pokhriyal. Known as third eye meditation, this is the practice of looking intently with an unwavering gaze at a small point until tears are shed.

“Our class will be performed in a darkened room using the flame of a candle as a focal point. This simple technique has a purifying effect on the mind and improves concentration, paving the way for greater spiritual awareness,” she added.

Little travelers have not been forgotten and they will be able to enjoy unlimited access to Westin Family Kids Club. This fully-supervised facility will be offering age-appropriate games, arts & crafts and safe play throughout Nyepi Day. After dark, families will then be encouraged to join us in the garden for a fun stargazing activity to watch the night sky come alive with millions of tiny twinkles.

“Out of respect for the cultural significance of Nyepi Day, all guests will be required to remain within the expansive grounds of the resort. Unwinding by the pool is permitted, however, all noise must be kept to a minimum and all lights in the evening will be dimmed,” Anggraini said. [traveltext.id]
