WALT DISNEY EARNS US$10 BILLION, BREAKS STUDIO RECORDS DURING A YEAR

THE global entertainment company Walt Disney made a new history as the first studio in the history of the industry, which surpassed ticket sales of more than US$10 billion in one year.

The studio has generated revenues of US$3.28 billion in the North American domestic market and US$6.7 billion in foreign markets. The total reached US $ 9.9 billion and officially made it past US$10 billion the following day.

This record has surpassed the previous global box office milestone also held by Walt Disney, namely in 2016 with total movie ticket sales of US$7.6 billion that year.

This milestone was driven by the success of a number of films released by the company this year. Call it Avengers: Endgame (2019) which became the best-selling film in the world of all time with revenues of US$2.797 billion.

Other major achievements include the film The Lion King (2019), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), Captain Marvel (2019), Toy Story 4 (2019), and Aladdin (2019) which are in the top 10 best-selling films this year.

So far, Walt Disney has had six film titles whose revenues exceed US$1 billion. Nearly seven films with the new title Frozen 2 which at the end of last week had collected revenues of US$919.69 million.

In fact, the income of more than US$10 billion held by the company does not include the calculation of the results of his films on 20th Century Fox – which Walt Disney officially acquired earlier this year – such as Ford vs Ferrari (2019) and Dark Phoenix (2019).

Meanwhile, the amount of revenue that will continue to grow along with the pace of Frozen 2 which is still moving and its final closing film is none other than Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker. The film is scheduled to air December 20th.

With the label as the last film of the Star Wars universe and the video trailer (trailer) that responded positively, analysts expect this film to be joined by another film from Disney that managed to record revenues of more than US$1 billion.

The Walt Disney is indeed the largest film company in the world. Currently, the company holds several popular movie franchise brands such as Marvel, Pixar, Disney Animations, National Geographic, and 20th Century Fox.

The company also officially released its own video streaming service, Disney, in November and is actively making various original serial and movie content for the new service. [antaranews/photo special]
