LIKUPANG TOURISM IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE TOURISTS VISITS

IT IS expected that the Likupang Tourism Special Economic Zone, North Minahasa Regency will be the driving force to increase tourist visits.

According to North Sulawesi Regional Secretary Edwin Silangen said the region is expected to increase the absorption of foreign tourists to North Sulawesi by 162 thousand people by 2025. This number, absorbing about 16 percent of the target set by North Sulawesi’s Governor Olly Dondokambey, as many as one million foreign tourists in the next five years.

The provincial government delegation had previously visited the Likupang Tourism Special Economic Zone which was planned to be the location of the 2020 G20 Summit if approved by the government.

“I hope that relevant agencies continue to work together to improve cooperation with the provincial government for the development of the Likupang Tourism Special Economic Zone. The Public Works and Public Housing Agency (PUPR Office) is expected to immediately make a list of meeting meetings with the Balai Balai, Sungai Balai in North Sulawesi related to the development of this area,” he said.

The parties have committed to the Likupang Tourism Special Economic Zone development program in the first three years, namely the construction of resorts (luxury green resorts, commercial (retail), lakes, utilities, entertainment (cultural villages) and roads.

Phase one construction covering an area of ​​63.7 hectares with investment in the development of the area of ​​Rp126.5 billion and investment of business operators Rp382.5 billion. In addition, Likupang Tourism Special Economic Zone is also predicted to be able to contribute to foreign exchange income in 2030 amounting to Rp22.5 trillion. [antaranews/photo special]
