AIRNAV EARNS RP479 BILLION, DESPITE SLUGGISH AVIATION BUSINESS

IINDONESIAN Aviation Navigation Service Providers Institution or Airnav Indonesia still posted a profit of Rp479 billion during 2019, up from Rp406 billion in 2018 despite the aviation industry has been sluggish in the past year.

According to Airnav Indonesia’s Managing Director Novie Riyanto in Jakarta said, the biggest profit was contributed by international flights. The movement of domestic flights dropped quite significantly, but because overflying (international flights) and international flights did not go down, so it did not really affect us.

He said 60-78 percent of revenue comes from international flight movements. Meanwhile, Airnav posted revenue this year of Rp3.7 trillion, an increase from 2018 of Rp3.3 trillion.

Novie said the movement of domestic flights declined by 17.5 percent along or far slipped from the target of five percent throughout 2019. Meanwhile, for international flights down 0.1 percent during 2019.

“The sluggish aviation industry also occurs globally, namely based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), globally there has been a decline in passengers along three percent compared to 2018. Cargo flights were down to five percent compared to 2018,” he said.

He added, our side was still optimistic that the aviation industry would improve next year. We are targeting growth in domestic production in 2020, which is two percent and internationally four percent.

Airnav will also invest in 2020, the details of which are for automation of Rp1.18 trillion, construction of Rp.463 billion, communication of Rp139.1 billion, navigation of Rp174.2 billion, surveillance of Rp172 billion, mechanics and electricity Rp104.2 billion.

Throughout 2019, Airnav also invested in increasing human resources in Papua, namely providing basic technical education in Surabaya Poltek in the form of scholarships for five people and 11 people from apprenticeship from Papua.

“We are indeed consistent in the development of human resources, especially for the sons of the Papuan people who will be returned and serve in their regions,” he concluded. [antaranews]
