ICCA INDONESIA HELD INDONESIA INTERNATIONAL MICE FORUM 2020

THE International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Association of Indonesia Committee today (25/2) held the ICCA Indonesia Forum 2020 at the JIEXPO Convention Center & Theater, Jakarta.

According to Chairperson of ICCA Indonesia Committee, Raty Ning, on the opening of the congress said the inaugural international activity held for one day was a meeting place for MICE actors and relevant stakeholders to discuss the world MICE trend, knowledge sharing by national and international speakers and networking.

“The ICCA Indonesia Forum presents expert speakers who are global MICE industry players ICCA members from Asia and Australia ICCA who will deliver knowledge-sharing and updates on global MICE trends, including the MICE industry outlook for the next five years and potential meetings of international associations, bidding events, and the importance of data research,” she said.

She pointed out that this forum would also present the chair of the medical association (IDAI) who delivered a lesson-learn about the importance of international association meetings. Another topic, namely digital support, was chosen as one of the topics in line with trends in the MICE industry.

“The event was attended by more than 250 participants of MICE industry players and stakeholders, heads of associations from various fields, officials from relevant ministries, academics and media. ICCA Indonesia Forum 2020 is held by utilizing the momentum of the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet which focuses MICE activities in tourism, as well as showing the international world that Indonesia is able to host world association meetings,” Raty Ning added.

Raty noted, as for the trend of meeting the world associations in recent years in Europe declined while the increase occurred in the Asia-Pacific. This must be utilized by Indonesia currently still below the neighboring countries namely Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore in the MICE destination ranking.

“There are still wide opportunities for Indonesia to bring in international association meetings through international bidding. This not only requires the capacity of MICE industry stakeholders to be able to seize this opportunity but also strong support from the government,” Raty continued.

She explained, one of the goals of the establishment of the ICCA Indonesia Committee was to encourage

MICE industry growth through educational activities. We plan to hold other educational programs in collaboration with relevant industry associations.

“In the future, this number is expected to increase and further strengthen the presence and capability of Indonesian bidding on the map of the world meeting,” she concluded. [traveltext.id]
