CRISIS CENTER ACTIVATED TO PRESS IMPACT OF COVID-19 FOR TOURISM SECTOR

MINISTRY of Tourism & Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency has activated the Integrated Crisis Center as a communication and education channel for the community to reduce the impact of COVID-19 for the tourism sector and the creative economy.

According to the Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Unit for the Ministry of Tourism & Transmigration, Ari Juliano Gema, in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/4) said integrated crisis communication was needed in tourism crisis management as an effort to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

“We have activated parekraf crisis communication since March 17, 2020, following the tourism crisis management SOP generated from input with crisis management practitioners and communication experts throughout 2018-2019,” Ari said.

Tourism Ministry also opened various channels of public communication as a form of COVID-19 response including through official websites and social media.

“Regarding COVID-19 response paragraphs, there are public communication channels that can be utilized at IG@kemen.parekraf, IG@indtravel, and www.kemenparekraf.go.id. The website even lists the COVID-19 microsite specifically https://pedulicovid19.kemenparekraf.go.id/,” he affirmed.

He added, all landing pages are integrated and directly connected to the contact center 08118956767 which is based on the whatsapp application and will be answered by the information center staff during working hours and chatbot outside working hours.

Ari added, along Tourism Ministry continued to collect information on the tourism industry and creative economy affected by COVID-19 in all regions.

“We are in the process of collecting data on the tourism sector and the creative economy affected by COVID-19 in all regions,” he said.

After the data is recorded, it will work together with the regional government to implement a tourism sector and creative economy mitigation plan in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have also communicated the Tourism & Creative Economy sector mitigation plan to all regional governments last week,” he concluded.

Furthermore, he immediately opened an online forum to solicit input from actors and stakeholders in the tourism sector as a material consideration in developing policies and further steps. [traveltex.id]
