TOURISM MINISTRY: PEOPLE ENTHUSIASTIC FOLLOW THE CLOTH MASK MOVEMENT

MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy said that people in various regions in the country were enthusiastic and responded positively to the Fabric Mask Movement which was initiated for the purpose of suppressing the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia.

According to COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ari Juliano Gema in his statement in Jakarta, Monday (6/4/2020) said, the public responded positively to the fabric mask movement.

“The response can be seen from the many people who upload photos using cloth masks on their social media pages,” Ari said.

Meanwhile Task Officer Deputy of Digital Economy and Creative Products Tourism Ministry, Josua Puji Mulia Simanjuntak who appreciated the enthusiasm of the community through social media pages related to the movement.

“Many responded. All levels of society and creative economic actors also responded positively and tagged into the account @kemen.parekraf and the Ministry of Tourism @wishnutama account,” said Josua Puji Mulia Simanjuntak.

Josua explained, the use of cloth masks was considered sufficient for those who were healthy. So with the increasing number of people using cloth masks, the availability of medical masks will tend to be easily obtained by those who need it more, including medical personnel, people under surveillance (patients), and COVID-19 positive.

“Masks made from this cloth have been investigated enough to minimize direct contact with dust, viruses, and droplets outside the home if it is unable to do Work From Home and must interact with many people,” he said.

Josua also said that the government and the World Health Organization (WHO) are now encouraging everyone to wear masks when they leave the house. This is because of the positive effects of wearing masks in preventing the spread of the Corona virus (COVID-19).

“The community continues to be encouraged, to maintain health by using masks. We certainly see the state of the use of masks, both homemade and cloth masks, at the community level can help prevent the spread of COVID-19” he noted.

Previously, Tourism  Ministry also invited creative economic actors especially local designers to participate in the Cloth Mask Movement.

This movement is determined to produce 100,000 fabric masks which will be distributed to the public to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia. The movement is intended for local fashion sub-actors or designers in Indonesia, initiated and driven by the Deputy for Digital Economy and Creative Products at the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy.
