TOURISM has become one of the sectors affected by the COVID-19 pandemic for the Indonesian tourism industry, one of which is PT Sona Topas Tourism Industry Tbk, for example, in the disclosure of information explaining that it has temporarily suspended store operations located at the International Airport Terminal I Gusti Ngurah Rai-Bali .

According to Corporate Secretary of PT Sona Topas Tourism Industry Tbk Wong Budi Setiawan said the temporary store operations will not operate from April 15, 2020 until waiting for further information from international flight schedules.

“The temporary closure step was taken because of the minimal number of flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Operational adjustments will be evaluated every week, in accordance with developments in the situation that occurs within the airport,” he said.

Further explained by Wong, this operational adjustment will have an impact on the decline in revenue.

Similarly, PT Panorama Sentrawisata Tbk, which also projects this year to be a difficult period. Based on the records of Panorama Sentrawisata it is predicted to bear losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We continue to cut unnecessary costs, restructure debt and manage cash flow,” Sadewa explained.

It was explained, the company was still considering its expansion plans to Cambodia, PT Destinasi Tirta Nusantara Tbk did have a plan to expand its business to ASEAN countries. Last year, PT. Destinations Tirta Nusantara has expanded to Vietnam.

Do not want to be dissolved in unfavorable conditions, while looking at the possibility of improving the tourism sector, Panorama Sentrawisata is now preparing domestic products. Apart from the travel restrictions imposed during the pandemic, Sadewa believes the potential of domestic tourists to travel is actually still large.

“With the recovery period coming, we hope that this domestic market can start creating more trips to safe and possible destinations,” he concluded. [kontan.co.id/photo special]
