KADIN STILL HAS NO FELT THE EASE OF DOING BUSINESS IN INDONESIA

IN the midst of a corona virus pandemic, the business world is struggling to face an economic slowdown. However, the ease of doing business in the country, is considered not so much improved.

According to the Chairperson of the Permanent Committee for the Export of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) Handito Joewono said domestic entrepreneurs have not yet fully got the ease of doing business. Because, this is also related to the Ease of Doing Business  (EoDB ) assessment from the aspect of international trade relations.

According to him, in a pandemic situation global demand has fallen, especially as China and the United States as Indonesia’s largest export market experienced economic slowdown. As a result entrepreneurs have put their minds to work on substituting export countries.

“The ease of export needed is cash stimulus. Because the problem when taken to another country is more, because it is not used. So there are extra costs. At least the government provides subsidies or loans to bear the loan interest of 6%, it can be more,” Handito said.

On the other hand, Handito feels that investment is still hampered in the regions. In his experience, the Governor/Mayor in Indonesia has not yet been pro-business. So, even though the permit has been coordinated by the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), the local government sometimes becomes an investment barrier that is not realized.

“But now it is a pro-business development, the regional government is quite improved because it is often mentioned by the President too. There is no reason, it must be made easy. I see this pandemic corona should be a turning point in the business world as long as it is facilitated, “he said.

Handito added, in fact the most effective medicine to improve business ease was through the Work Draft Law (Draft Bill) or work copyright omnibus. [kontan.co.id/photo special]
