DUE TO COVID-19, GARUDA INDONESIA WILL OPEN SPECIAL BUSINESS FLIGHTS

PT Garuda Indonesia will continue to meet the needs of air transportation accessibility during the corona virus pandemic (COVID-19), in line with the government’s commitment.

According to Garuda Indonesia’s President Director Irfan Setiaputra said the company would play an active role in the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic by ensuring air connectivity continued in accordance with regulations and restrictions.

“The company is conducting intensive communication with the government and the Ministry of Transportation to ensure the readiness of the need for accessibility of flight services during the Covid-19 pandemic,” Irfan said in an official broadcast recently.

Irfan stated, this would be done through the implementation of clear and measurable health protocols, specifically related to the government’s plan to establish Permenhub No. derivative policies. 25/2020 which regulates the provisions of flight service operations during the pandemic.

“However, we can be sure that from the aspect of operational readiness, we are very ready if indeed the policy will be implemented,” he said.

Irfan realizes that in the midst of this pandemic, the public interest must still be served, especially related to access to air transportation services. He stressed the company is ready to serve flights in accordance with the needs of the community, but still pay attention to government policies.

“We are trying to make it a sustainable step with the government in ensuring that the public interest can be fulfilled properly,” he added.

Previously, Garuda Indonesia was known to be following in the footsteps of Lion Air Group, which operates special licensing flights (exemption flights) for business people amid the mudik ban set by the government.
