THE Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) plans to continue to run the automotive exhibition Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2020, but cut it from four events to just two exhibitions.
According to Chairman of Gaikindo Yohannes Nangoi in his press release said Gaikindo will concentrate on organizing the two exhibitions namely GIIAS Surabaya 2020 and The 28th GIIAS ICE-BSD City, Tangerang. The implementation of the Makassar GIIAS and Medan GIIAS will be held again in 2021.
“We must think ahead, that we must prioritize various factors, such as public health and safety, the state of the country’s economy, and in addition we must also consider the interests of the industry, that the automotive industry will need time to recover, but also needs a place to revive,” Yohannes Nangoi said.
He explained, Gaikindo assumed that in June 2020 the pandemic would decline and in July 2020 the country’s condition would gradually be normal, including the condition of the Indonesian economy. Therefore, we decided to try to keep going on GIIAS 2020, the second concentration of implementation, with some adjustments.
Meanwhile Chairman III of Gaikindo, Rizwan Alamsjah who is the head of the organizer of the GIIAS exhibition, said there will be some adjustments related to the 2020 exhibition.
“We have to make adjustments to focus on meeting industry needs and continue to prioritize visitor safety and comfort. We reached the conclusion that shifting the implementation date is the best choice, where GIIAS Surabaya 2020 will take place in September and The 28th GIIAS, BSD-CITY will take place in October,” he said.
Rizwan Alamsjah added that the plan was based on prediction of emergency response set by the government and weighing the preparation time needed to prepare for the exhibition.
“Gaikindo believes that by adjusting the time, the GIIAS The Series exhibition will continue to be the best choice for the Brand Holder Agents (APM) of the automotive industry to revive, and show the spirit of achievement through a variety of products and the latest innovations to the public, and again meet their needs in 2020,” he noted.
Plans for organizing the GIIAS 2020 The Series are: (1). GIIAS Surabaya on 2-6 September 2020 at the Grand City Convex Surabaya, (2). The 28th GIIAS 2020 BSD-City 22 October – 1 November 2020, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibtion (ICE) BSD. [antaranews]
