IMPLEMENTATION OF HEALTH PROTOCOLS IN TOURISM IN NEW NORMAL ERA

COVID-19 pandemic has a significant impact on various sectors, especially the tourism sector. There has been a drastic decrease in numbers related to the entry or exit of domestic and foreign tourists in Indonesia.

According to the Deputy for the Coordination of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime & Investment, Odo RM Manuhutu said, therefore, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs as the coordinator prepared steps or efforts that could be taken in following up on the problem.

“We are preparing these tourism destinations to receive domestic tourists or foreign tourists during the COVID-19 pandemic and one of the efforts that we have done is to build five priority destinations. As stated by President Jokowi, where tourists will enter an area, when the destination is well built,” Odo said.

He added, it means the Government must now immediately build a quality destination so that this destination can attract tourists, feel safe and comfortable and their health is also guaranteed when visiting the destination.

Furthermore, he said that this pandemic period also opened opportunities for all of us in Indonesia to reset the perception of tourism transformation from Mass Tourism to Quality Tourism. This certainly requires quality human resources as well as qualified facilities and infrastructure.

“Actually the thing to look at is not the protocol but how it is implemented. We consider that precisely the tourism industry players have a big influence to implement the health protocol. Rules are regulations, but what is important is their implementation. The implementation is in the hands of friends of the tourism industry,” Deputy Odo noted.

Through this opportunity, he continued, I appreciate the efforts that have been made in overcoming the fear of traveling or fear of traveling. Therefore it is necessary to do massive socialization, as well as trials before implementing the health protocol.

“Even if there are more or less, I think that’s normal. This health protocol is made not only from government input, but it also accommodates input from associations and other actors. So there is balance,” he finished. [traveltext.id/photo special]
