VIETNAM HOPES TO WIN THE FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX AT THE END OF NOVEMBER

VIETNAM may be able to hold the Formula 1 Grand Prix no later than November when the country has not encountered a case of domestic transmission of the corona virus in the past three months, according to local authorities.

“We are assessing all issues related to the virus and will discuss it with the organizers. Hopefully the race can continue at the end of November,” Hanoi People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said at a meeting with the media, as reported by Reuters.

Nguyen Duc Chung added, the Vietnam Grand Prix was supposed to be held in Hanoi on April 5 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I did not elaborate on this matter and have not discussed it with F1.

“Meanwhile F1 has started a season that was delayed since March with the opening series in Austria last weekend. So far eight series have been released on the revised calendar but it is unclear how many races this season will be held,” Duc Chung noted.

Thanks to an aggressive test program and a centralized quarantine system, Vietnam continued to be able to withstand the number of COVID-19 infections in only 369 cases, most of which achieved a cure. There are no reports of deaths due to corona virus in the country. [antaranews]
