GARUDA RECORDED US$1.13 BILLION OPERATING REVENUE AS OF Q3 2020

INDONESIA’S flag carrier PT Garuda Indonesia posted an operating revenue of US$1.13 billion (some IDR16 trillion) as of September 2020 or in the third quarter (Q3) of 2020.

According to President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan setiaputra stated of the total revenue, scheduled flights contributed US$917.28 million, while the unscheduled aviation sector, US$46.92 million.

“Based on the company’s performance achievements to date, we are certain that various efforts to restore performance have been ‘on track,'” the president director noted in an official statement.

Garuda is also upbeat about a more positive growth in performance of the state-owned company (BUMN) in the national aviation industry in the fourth quarter of 2020, particularly with the long holidays at the year-end. Operating income also rose along with passenger growth of 17.9% in September 2020 as compared to the number of passengers in August 2020.

Irfan Setiaputra assessed that the consistently rising trend of passenger growth in the third quarter of 2020 offers a sense of optimism to Garuda Indonesia in its efforts to restore fundamental performance during the pandemic.

“This consistency indicates that public interest and confidence in flying has begun to show signs of recovering,” he affirmed.

In addition to recording passenger growth, Garuda Indonesia, in September 2020, also enjoyed a cargo growth of 40.11% as compared to cargo transportation in August 2020, reaching 15 thousand tons of cargo transport.

Amid the impact of this pandemic, cargo services have played a crucial role in supporting the company’s performance achievements in line with swift developments of the e-commerce business during the pandemic as well as endeavors to optimize cargo transportation for national export commodities.
