BANGKA-BELITUNG TOURISM READINESS, NEW NORMAL & TOURISM TARGET

IN the new normal or the current adaptation of New Habits, several sectors have started to move by implementing strict health protocols, of course. Including the reopening of Belitung tourism which has the Tanjung Kalayang destination, one of the destinations set by the government, including in 10 priority destinations.

With the rise of Bangka-Belitung tourism by implementing strict health protocols, the Tourism & Creative Economy Journalists Forum (Forwaparekraf) sees it as a positive step, in line with the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy which has formulated and socialized the Clean, Health, Safe & Environment (CHSE) certification program .

According to the Deputy Governor of Bangka-Belitung, Drs. Abdul Fatah in the Forwaparekraf Press Tour & Seminar Series 2020 at Swiss-belresort Tanjung Binga Belitung (15/11) said that currently the Bangka-Belitung destination has implemented the CHSE protocol in several tourist destinations. This rarity is the initial capital for the public’s trust to not hesitate to travel in Bangka-Belitung.

“Until now, Bangka-Belitung is still the prima donna of the most beautiful marine tourism destinations in Indonesia. The reason for going to Belitung, for example, is because of the natural beauty of the sea which is nicknamed the ‘Maldives’ of Indonesia because the area around the north of Belitung has a cluster of small islands that have their own charm,” he said.

Well, Abdul Fatah continued, to be able to revive this flagship sector of Laskar Pelangi Land, it requires support from all parties including the central government & stakeholders. This certainly affects the economy, especially the community or tourism players in Bangka-Belitung. In this case the local government continues to coordinate and synergize with the central government, through Tourism Ministry to make various breakthroughs, as well as work programs in the tourism sector.

Likewise, according to the Acting Director of Activities Organizing (Events) of Tourism Ministry, Edy Wardoyo explained, the CHSE Certification Program is one of the strategies to face a period of adaptation to new habits in the tourism and creative economy sector. Because the key to the successful recovery of the tourism sector and creative economy is the application of standard health protocols in the tourism sector and the creative economy.

“The CHSE certification serves as a guarantee to tourists and the public that the products and services provided have met protocols for cleanliness, health, safety and environmental sustainability,” he stated.

Meanwhile, at the same time, the Head of Belitung Regent, H. Sahani Shaleh S. said the Tanjung Kelayang Special Economic Zone (KEK), which is located on the coast of Tanjung Kelayang, has now become a leading tourist destination in the Bangka-Belitung Islands Province.

This environmentally friendly tourism area has since been inaugurated by the Indonesia’s, Joko Widodo on March 14, 2019, there have been a number of positive changes after the KEK Tanjung Kelayang Tourism began operating. Even the local community is now more enthusiastic about developing the MSME sector which supports the stretch of tourism with an environmentally friendly approach.

“The President Jokowi-KEK Tanjung Kelayang Tourism Program is running well. There are already 5 star hotels in operation. However, in its development, the KEK Tanjung Kelayang Tourism prioritizes MSMEs and the Environment,” Sahani Shaleh noted.

He added, I even already have a target value of investment in Belitung Regency in 2021. The investment value, reached IDR3.5 trillion. As for the direction of this investment in the tourism sector, because it has become a flagship program for Belitung. However, there are other sectors that Belitung rely on, namely agriculture and fisheries.

“So in addition to tourism being a mainstay, agriculture and marine and fisheries businesses are also a mainstay. We will offer these three sectors to investors, and our target is IDR3.5 trillion, I am very sure,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
