LION Air plans to open a new route from Surabaya, East Java to Ternate, North Maluku which will be served on 23 November 2020.

According to Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Danang M. Prihantoro said for the initial stage, the service has a frequency of three times every Monday, Wednesday, Friday for return (PP).

Flight number JT-894 will depart from Juanda International Airport at 08.30 WIB and is expected to arrive at Sultan Babullah Airport, Ternate, North Maluku (TTE) at 13:15 WIT. The return flight, Lion Air is still serving on the same day, Lion Air numbered JT-895 has a scheduled departure from Sultan Babullah Airport at 14.00 WIT and will land at Juanda International Airport at 14.45 WIB.

“We are optimistic that air travel from Surabaya-Ternate and Ternate-Surabaya with a duration of approximately 3 hours non-stop can provide added value to all passengers such as business people and tourists in traveling using affordable, easy and effective aircraft,” said Danang in the press release.

He said the availability of the flight schedule is Lion Air’s main focus in responding to requests from inter-destination passengers in the domestic segment, efforts to increase demand for air travel and restore public confidence that flying is safe.

Danang added that the opening of the route to Surabaya-Ternate-Surabaya is Lion Air’s seriousness in accommodating the needs of flight services and supporting government programs in stimulating tourism and equitable distribution of new economic growth centers in Indonesia.

In addition, it is hoped that it can complete flight schedule choices using the right departure time. So far, Lion Air’s operations at Juanda International Airport have become one of Lion Air’s biggest hubs. Thus the connectivity of Ternate and Surabaya as well as other areas is relatively short.

The new Surabaya-Ternate-Surabaya route is part of Lion Air’s market expansion in Indonesia, in line with efforts to help accelerate regional and national economic recovery. [photo special]
