PUPR MINISTRY: THE PROGRESS OF STRUCTURING 5 STRATEGIC TOURISM AREAS

INDONESIA’S Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is optimistic that the arrangement of the five National Tourism Strategic Areas (KSPN) will be completed next year.

According to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, currently the progress of the Super Priority National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) has reached 57.85% by mid-November 2020. As for the absorption of the budget has reached IDR2.64 trillion of the total budget of IDR3, 81 trillion or 69.36% for 5 KSPN Super Priorities namely Borobudur, Lake Toba, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo and Likupang-Manado-Bitung.

Minister Basuki gave an example of infrastructure development at the Lake Toba KSPN in North Sumatra Province as a leading tourist destination, including the construction of the Samosir Ring Road, the widening of the Tano Ponggol channel and the Tano Ponggol Bridge, the revitalization of Lake Toba, water treatment installations, sanitation, arrangement of the edge of Lake Toba, and improving the quality of self-help homes through the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) program for homestays.

“Furthermore, the Mandalika KSPN includes connectivity, flood control, and tourism supporting facilities and infrastructure,” he said.

He explained, for the construction of a flood control channel in the special economic area (KEK) Mandalika, currently the physical progress has reached 96.91% and is targeted to be completed in December 2020. The budget for this flood control development is IDR75 billion. Meanwhile, for the arrangement of the 3 Gilis area with a budget of IDR24.9 billion, the progress is currently 22.36%.

“At the Labuan Bajo KSPN, his party is currently completing road improvements, sidewalk arrangement and drainage of the lower Soekarno-Hatta Road at a cost of IDR42.79 billion, where progress is currently at 70.69%,” Minister Basuki noted.

He added that for the current arrangement of the Batu Cermin Cave Area, the progress is already 64.27% with a budget of IDR27.5 billion. In terms of structuring the KSPN Borobudur, progress is generally good. One of them is the assistance of non-governmental housing for use by tourist lodges, targeted for completion in December 2020.

“Meanwhile, the arrangement of the Likupang KSPN, what has been 100% completed is the construction of flood control infrastructure in the Likupang River along 1 km with a budget of IDR10.88 billion,” Basuki concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
