INDONESIA CONVENTION EXHIBITION, THE LARGEST MICE BUILDING COMPLEX

INONESIA Convention Exhibition (ICE) is the largest exhibition and convention complex in Indonesia. Occupying an area of 220,000 m2 this place is comprehensively designed as a MICE (meeting, incentive, conference & exhibition) venue by architects and design firms who are used to building world-class exhibition and convention arenas.

Not only is it the largest MICE building in the country but also the largest in Southeast Asia, including the largest in Asia alongside the Shanghai New International Expo Center in Shanghai, China (199,741 m2), Singapore Expo Convention Center (100,335 m2), and the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center in Nonthaburi, Thailand (140,283 m2).

The ICE building was built by two leading Indonesian companies, namely Kompas Gramedia (Medialand) and Sinarmas Land (BSD) and was inaugurated on August 4, 2015 by President Joko Widodo.

Quoting a press release from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Tuesday (8/12), this building is located in the heart of Tangerang city, precisely in the upscale development area of Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) City, South Tangerang, ICE is one of the motors that excites the MICE industry. Indonesia. BSD City itself is managed by PT BSD, part of the Sinar Mas Group, which collaborates with various large companies in the entertainment, accommodation, retail, finance and education sectors. BSD is now a satellite city with a modern face in the South Tangerang region, which is the largest industrial and manufacturing area in Indonesia.

As the largest convention and exhibition center in Indonesia, ICE is able to accommodate meeting rooms from the smallest for 20 people to the largest of 10,000 people. ICE has ten rooms with a total area of 50,000 m2; convention room covering an area of 4,000 m2; 33 meeting rooms of various sizes; an outdoor area of 50,000 square meters; and a lobby area of 12,000 m2.

The roof of the ICE building is very comfortable for events of all sizes. Partitions between buildings can be opened to create a large exhibition area. For a massive event such as an automotive exhibition, there are 10 halls that are connected to the convention area. The ICE building also responds to the use of technology using a Gigabit Passive Optical Network system that is integrated with AV systems, internet, paging systems, and CCTV.

The ICE building brings a traditional Javanese touch through the wayang icons on each floor. A total of four floors, namely Lower Ground (LG), Ground Floor (GF), Mezzanine Floor (M), and First Level. The LG area consists of the Kalimaya Room, a space of up to 126 square meters that can accommodate 70 people and is typically used for classrooms, theater, and reception configurations.

There are also VIP Lounge, Medical Room and Business Center. After that, in the GF area there is Nusantara Hall which is the center of ICE and is equipped with international standard facilities and is integrated with the area

The ICE building is also environmentally friendly by maximizing natural light penetration so as to reduce lamp usage. In addition, grove of trees adorn the area of this building making oxygen circulation comfortable for visitors. The building also utilizes low-energy LED lighting and has a waste management system and recycles water which is reused for flushing the garden and providing toilet water.

With this practice, in 2017 ICE received the World Gold Winner award from FIABCI or the international real estate federation in the Purpose to Build category. One of the assessment factors is the right design with the use and use of environmentally friendly freon.

From large-scale weddings to world-class trade shows, every event under ICE’s roof is a success thanks to its strong infrastructure, flexible layout, and capable internal personnel. Various major events have been held here both on a national and international scale, including the annual GAIKINDO International Auto Show (GIIAS) to concerts of world musicians such as Katy Perry, Michael Buble, Westlife, to the K-Pop band “Bigbang”.

ICE itself is operated by Deutsche Messe, a world-recognized global operator company from Germany. Deutsche Messe is a leading trade show organizer, including Hannover Messe, CeBIT, CeMAT, Domotex, and LIGNA.

Deutsche Messe is also the operator of the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC), the most successful venue in Asia. In terms of human resources, ICE managers also continue to develop the capabilities of their staff to support the needs of organizers and visitors, including providing Client Service Officers who ensure client needs when holding events at ICE are met.

Supporting accessibility to ICE is available in three ways. First, from JORR Pondok Indah-Bintaro-BSD Toll Road to the Giant-German Center intersection. Second, from the Jakarta-Tangerang Toll Road to Gading Serpong (Km 18) and through to BSD. Third, the new road access from Jalan Raya Serpong (the former BSD Roundabout that has been demolished).

The fourth that is being completed is the BSD Toll Road that goes directly to the ICE and AEON Mall areas. When this road is completed, access to ICE will be easier and faster. The fifth access is the Serpong-Bandara Toll Road which cuts down to 15-20 minutes. Apart from road access, mass transportation infrastructure such as the LRT and monorail around Serpong and Tangerang will also make it easier for residents to visit various MICE events at ICE.

There are also many accommodations around ICE and you only need to adjust your needs. In the BSD, Gading Serpong, Alam Sutera, and surrounding areas there are dozens of hotels with approximately 5,000 rooms. These hotels are ready to welcome guests of MICE activities. [kontan.co.id/photo special]
