JAL OFFERS COMPLIMENTARY COVID-19 COVERAGE FREE FOR INT’L FLIGHT PASSENGERS

JAPAN Airlines (JAL) will provide a new service called JAL COVID-19 Cover, as part of the JAL FlySafe program to provide assurance and support to passengers with travel needs during the global pandemic.

According to Hideo Ninomiya, Managing Executive Officer Passenger Sales, Japan Airlines, in official press release said that the new service provided by Allianz Travel makes Japan Airlines the first Japanese airline to cover a total of up to € 150,000 in total medical expenses which includes the initial test fee. COVID-19 and the cost of follow-up medical care for those who have tested positive during their travels.

“Additional protection for isolation and repatriation costs is also included for those in need after a positive diagnosis. A 24-hour global call center in English and Japanese will be available to assist symptomatic customers, providing further peace of mind during their journey. Services related to JAL COVID-19 Cover will operate starting from December 23, 2020,” Hideo Ninomiya said.

Hideo Ninomiya explained that as international flights gradually returned to operations, JAL Group implemented important steps against COVID-19 to provide a safe and secure travel experience for passengers.

“Although it may take time to welcome passengers back on a global scale, we hope that this collaboration with Allianz Travel will provide certainty for those who need to travel. JAL Group has implemented important steps against COVID-19 at the airport and during the trip,” Ninomiya noted.
