INVESTMENT TO STRENGTHEN THE RECOVERY OF TOURISM & CREATIVE ECONOMY

THE Indonesian government continues to make efforts to restore and develop the tourism sector and the creative economy. One of them is by encouraging tourism investment and the creative economy in various regions, especially in 5 Super Priority Destinations (DSP).

According to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, at the “Indonesia-China Tourism & Investment Forum for 5 Key Super Priority Tourism Destinations, the government is currently very focused on restoring the national economy, especially in the tourism sector.

Luhut stated through the Coordinating Ministry for Marves,” the government is focused on the development of existing tourism locations, especially Lake Toba, Labuan Bajo, Borobudur, Mandalika, and Likupang. Infrastructure development will be carried out, especially those connecting the distribution area, so there is also tourism access.

“In addition, if the economy has improved, especially in the tourism sector, there will be new jobs that can benefit Indonesia’s economic progress,” he said.

He said that the investment forum today is not only actualized to commemorate 70 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the People’s Republic of China, but also a forum to encourage bilateral action that concretely results in stable and strong economic performance in the two countries.

“The objective of this investment forum is for the two countries to achieve full economic recovery within two years, through real investment in tourism,” Luhut noted.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, said tourism would be one of the sectors driving the national economic recovery because tourism has a wide multiplier effect.

“Tourism brings consumers to other sectors directly or indirectly, such as transportation, the hotel raw material supply industry, the creative economy sector of MSMEs, culinary, crafts, performing arts, and many others,” Angela noted.

The “Indonesia-China Tourism & Investment Forum for 5 Key Super Priority Tourism Destinations” was organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment to commemorate 70 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China which was focused on promoting the tourism economy.

This forum introduces the privileges and uniqueness of various destination areas in Indonesia, so it is hoped that it can attract investment so that the acceleration of the development of Regional Income Sources (SPD) can be carried out in order to grow the Indonesian economy.

In developing tourism, the Ministry of Tourism is focusing on shifting from quantity tourism to quality tourism. Namely, how to improve the quality of tourism destinations and products of Indonesia’s creative economy, so as to have a broad social impact on the Indonesian people, and make people’s lives much better.

“This means, in building quality tourism, one must pay attention to and develop all aspects of tourism and the creative economy. Among them are connectivity that makes easy access to each destination, quality and long-term infrastructure, provides a unique experience in each destination, also uses big data analysis, in order to predict trends in the behavior of people who are active in the realm of tourism and the creative economy, ” she concluded.
