EXPANSION, ASCOTT INDONESIA SIGNS MOU WITH AGUNG SEDAYU GROUP

CAPITALAND’S lodging business unit, The Ascott Limited (Ascott), recently signed a management agreement with one of Indonesia’s leading property developers and hotel owners, Agung Sedayu Group, through its subsidiary, PT Citra Kirana Apartel.

According to Ervin Yeo, Ascott’s Managing Director for Southeast Asia, said that with this collaboration, Ascott will manage 167 apartment units under the Somerset Serviced Residence brand and will be part of the multipurpose development of Puri Mansion. The serviced residence, temporarily known as Somerset Puri Mansion Jakarta will be positioned as the flagship Somerset brand in the vicinity.

“Apart from the Somerset Puri Mansion Jakarta, the recently opened Harris Suites Puri Mansion (operating since October 2020), a hotel managed under Tauzia Hotel Management (Tauzia), the Ascott members are in the same multi-purpose development location. This marks Ascott’s first serviced residence-hotel combination lodging product in Indonesia, with each lodging product serving a different market segment in the Puri Kembangan area, ”he said.

He explained, Somerset Puri Mansion Jakarta is planned to be completed in 2022 and will be the ninth Somerset property in Indonesia and the first Somerset property located in West Jakarta.

Ervin Yeo added that we are honored to partner with the Agung Sedayu Group, one of the leading property developers in Indonesia. Collaboration with leading industry players continues to be Ascott’s main growth strategy, as it provides us with access to a network of quality projects.

Meanwhile Philip Lim, Ascott’s Country General Manager for Indonesia, said that in Indonesia, Ascott offers a growing number of tourists a variety of serviced residences strategically located and business hotels in major cities such as Jakarta, Bali, Bandung and Surabaya.

“Our presence in West Jakarta has great potential to attract expatriates and business executives for long-term stays and the flexibility to serve tourists with short-term stays, especially those working around Puri and industrial areas in West Jakarta and Tangerang,” he said.

In Indonesia, Ascott manages eight serviced residences operating in Jakarta and Surabaya Ascott Jakarta, Ascott Kuningan Jakarta, Ascott Sudirman Jakarta, Ascott Waterplace Surabaya, Somerset Berlian Jakarta, Somerset Grand Citra Jakarta, Citadines Rasuna Jakarta, Citadines Berawa Beach Bali and one hotel in Semarang – Oak Tree Emerald Hotel Semarang.

Ascott also invests in TAUZIA Hotels Management, one of the largest hotel operators in Indonesia. In 2021, Ascott’s upcoming properties in Indonesia include Somerset Sudirman Jakarta which will open in the first quarter of 2021, as well as Somerset Asia Afrika Bandung, Somerset Samator Surabaya, Citadines Gatot Subroto Jakarta, Citadines Kings Bandung and Citadines Sudirman Jakarta.
