SOON GENOSE SERVICES WILL BE IMPLEMENTED IN ALL MODES OF TRANSPORTATION

MINISTER of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi will implement the GeNose C19 service in all modes of transportation, including sea and air. The plan has even been discussed with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs & Investment (Marves), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (PMK),  Muhadjir Effendy together with Gajah Mada Universty staff and researchers, on Tuesday (23/2) at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for PMK and the Coordinating Ministry for Marves, Jakarta.

During the meeting, Budi said that the use of the GeNose C19 detection tool would be implemented at Tanjung Priok Port at the end of this slow random (random). He also asked the Director General of Sea and Air Transportation to prepare mechanisms and standard operating procedures and adapt them to existing regulations in both sectors.

“On the train, the public interest in using GeNose is very good and currently stakeholders in the sea and air transportation sector also want to use GeNose. For this reason, we report to the Coordinating Minister about the plan, and of course we will do it carefully,” said Budi through his press release.

On that occasion, the Coordinating Minister for PMK Muhadjir Effendy admitted that he strongly supports the presence of GeNose as an alternative to the COVID-19 detection tool used in transportation nodes because GeNose is a domestic product and has a number of advantages such as being easier and safer to use with a high accuracy .

“Hopefully in the future it can be mass produced and can continue to be developed so that the level of accuracy will increase. We will continue to increase the use of GeNose for the benefit of public services. Not only for travel, but also can be used in other places where it is really needed,” he said.

Meanwhile, GeNose C19 services have been implemented in eight train stations from various cities. Since its first release on February 3, 2021, until now, the nation’s child COVID-19 detector has served 63,523 passengers.
