TOURISM MINISTRY INVITES INVESTORS TO INVEST IN THE LIKUPANG SEZ

INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy invites investors to invest in the development of the Likupang Tourism Special Economic Zone (SEZ), creating a breakthrough model for regional development through international standard tourism industry and services.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that it could make the tourism sector and the creative economy a leading sector in creating jobs and providing welfare for the community.

“I invite more than 50 investors to meet relevant stakeholders to hear more about the development of the Likupang Tourism SEZ in the Gala Dinner Tourism & Creative Economy Investment Forum in North Sulawesi,” he said.

He explained, the North Sulawesi Investor Forum Gala Dinner was a meeting with several businessmen as well as investors who were initiated to encourage and support the acceleration of industrial development and investment in tourism and the creative economy in North Sulawesi Province, especially Likupang which is a Super Priority Destination and has been designated as a Special Economic Zone. .

“There are several investment opportunities in the Likupang KEK. Among other things, the infrastructure in the area includes the Sustainability Concept and creating a Smart Tourist Destination (STD). Then Cultural Village is the key for tourist destinations and a center for the creative economy to encourage support for the local community,” he noted.

Sandiaga Uno added that, as well as the development of the phase I (first 3 years) area on an area of ​​92.89 hectares with an investment value of IDR914 billion, including resorts, utilities, commercial areas, lakes, as well as green open spaces.

The Likupang SEZ developed by PT. Minahasa Permai Resort Development (MPRD) is located on an area of ​​197.4 hectares which will be developed in three stages. The total investment value for regional development is IDR2.1 trillion and is estimated to attract IDR5 trillion investment until 2040.

Through the Likupang SEZ, it is hoped that it can boost the realization of investment in the tourism sector in North Sulawesi Province, which based on data from the Investment Coordinating Board for 2020, reached IDR939.13 billion with foreign investor reaching IDR80 billion, and domestic investor reaching IDR859.13 billion.

“We hope that the development will not only be limited to increasing local income and the surrounding community, but also must improve the quality of life of the community, as well as the socio-culture and environment,” Sandiaga Uno concluded.

On this occasion, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno also witnessed the signing of a cooperation framework between the MPRD and ITDC (Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation) regarding the Plan to Form a Business Entity for the Development and Management of the Likupang SEZ. [traveltext.id]
