TOURISM MINISTRY ENSURES THAT CHSE PROTOCOLS IS APPLIED TO MICE INDUSTRY

AS an effort to make the implementation of health protocols based on Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) applied to events and meetings, incentives, conventions & exhibitions (MICE) during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy held a Talk Event & MICE Industry Talk.

In his remarks, at the Soesilo Soedarman Hall, Jakarta (8/3/2021), the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, said that this activity was one of the fast moves to improve and develop CHSE health protocols for the event and MICE industries, along with changes in the fluctuating situation during a pandemic.

Also attending offline and online were Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo, Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, and Deputy for Tourism Products and Events, Rizky Handayani.

Then, there is the Indonesian National Police Chief, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Prof. Wiku Adisasmito, Plt. Director General of Public Health, Ministry of Health, drg. Kartini Rustandi, Chairperson of the DPP Association of Indonesian Exhibition Companies (ASPERAPI) Hosea Andreas Runkat, Chairperson of the Indonesian Music Promoters Association Dino Hamid, Chairperson of IVENDO Mulkan Kamaludin, and Chairperson of Indonesian Backstagers Sofyan Nasution.

Previously, the Ministry of Tourism has made a handbook or guidebook on CHSE-based health protocols on the implementation of activities (events) and MICE which can be downloaded via the https://chse.kemenparekraf.go.id/ site.

“The guidelines have also been socialized in several destinations. The implementation of health protocols also received appreciation from the international community at the Bali Democracy Forum 2020. This shows that we are very capable of holding events with strict and disciplined health protocols. For that, now is the time for us to step together to get back up, “he said.

In addition, Sandiaga Uno said that his party would launch a Calendar of Events (COE) in April 2021. Therefore, we must really equalize the frequency, so that the planned events can be carried out well. Hopefully our steps by prioritizing health and safety aspects can be a requirement or points to be assessed by the Chief of Police and his staff in supporting the holding of events and MICE.

On the same occasion, the Indonesian National Police Chief, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo proposed a program launched by the Menparekraf so that it could be integrated with the micro PPKM program in areas that did not implement the program. He also suggested that the hotel industry, apart from checking body temperature, wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining distance, also needs to apply 3T (testing, tracing, and treatment). For this reason, the hotel needs to enforce a swab test result check as a condition for staying at the hotel.

“This is to create a sense of security and comfort for visitors who come and show visitors that the hotel really has strict and disciplined SOPs,” he said.

In addition, he also said that his party had prepared COVID-19 posts, but if these posts could be coordinated with the event organizers, it would be much better and useful.

“If the event is held, a participant is found who is positive, tracing can be done immediately. Thus, the event can run well and steps to reduce the rate of spread of COVID-19 can also be implemented, “said Listyo.

In principle, he said he would support all programs prepared by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and his event and MICE friends. With a note that both the organizers and participants of the event and MICE must really implement strict and disciplined health protocols.

Meanwhile, Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Prof. Wiku Adisasmito explained that based on a map of the risk of COVID-19 transmission in the arts, entertainment, recreation, accommodation providers, eating and drinking industries, it is classified as very high because the interactions carried out are quite intense, but if you look at the resulting economic impact it is also very significant.

“Therefore, if we want to open an activity with a high enough risk and high impact, of course it needs strong and mature preparation,” said Prof. Wiku

He conveyed the importance of creating a productive and safe community environment from COVID-19. Don’t be productive but unsafe, or safe but not productive at all. For this reason, there are stages in creating this environment, starting from pre-conditions, timing, injury, coordination with regional centers, to monitoring and evaluation.

“For that, if we want the event industry and MICE activities to be revived. We need to do these stages. Hopefully this can be our joint step for the Indonesian economy to rise safely with COVID-19,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
