THE national airline Garuda Indonesia fully supports government policies related to transportation control during the 2021 Lebaran Homecoming period which takes effect from 6-17 May 2021, following the issuance of SE Number 13 of 2021 from the Task Force for Handling COVID-19.

According to the President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, in his official press release, said that Garuda Indonesia would certainly support this policy, considering that these control efforts were carried out to optimize efforts to accelerate the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, which requires active participation from all levels of society, including us as industry providers. air transportation services.

“In line with this support, Garuda Indonesia as the national flag carrier is committed to taking an active role in efforts to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, namely by ensuring the availability of air connectivity for people who have to travel during that period, or people who are included in the category of exemption from the prohibition provisions. He continued, Garuda Indonesia is also committed to continuing to support the fulfillment of logistics distribution needs which we project will increase significantly ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebration, in which the preferences of people’s needs in sending goods as a means of hospitality will increase, one of which we will optimize Kirim Aja services and cargo flights.

“Garuda Indonesia is currently also preparing anticipatory steps related to the operational policy of flight services to support the implementation of this Lebaran transportation control policy,” he noted.

Among them are adjustments to flight frequency and schedule as needed, adjustments to operational policies on pre-flight, in-flight and post-flight service lines before, during, and after the period of prohibition of going home, optimization of cargo flight services to support logistics distribution, and various policies. anticipatory in other operational domains.

“To ensure that the various adjustment steps run optimally, Garuda Indonesia continues to carry out intensive coordination with other airport service stakeholders. We will continue to monitor passenger traffic ahead of the implementation of this transportation control policy, to ensure flight service operations can continue smoothly,” Irfan affirmed.

He explained that to support the transportation control efforts launched by the government, Garuda Indonesia also urges people who have planned trips to coincide with the period of the homecoming prohibition, to be able to immediately make adjustments to their flight plans.

“Garuda Indonesia provides flexibility in the form of exemption from additional fees for people who make changes to flight plans, with reference to applicable regulations. We believe that efforts to restore the national economy will not take place optimally without the government’s firm steps in accelerating the handling of the pandemic which need to be supported by active community participation in order to minimize the risk of spread,” Irfan added.

Therefore, he continued that we hope that we can interpret the provisions on the ban on going home as an effort to prevent transmission and accelerate a wider recovery, in line with the momentum of national vaccination that has been implemented by the Government since the beginning of 2021.
