TRAVEL AGENCIES WILL GET TOURISM GRANTS THIS YEAR TO IDR3,7 TRILLION

THE Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said that this year tourism grant funds, which are budgeted as much as IDR3.7 trillion, will also be given to travel agencies to managers of tourist attractions.

In an online discussion entitled It’s Time for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to Rise to Support Tourism, Monday (19/4), Minister Sandiaga Uno said that this year’s tourism grant funds increased from the previous year which amounted to IDR3.3 trillion.

“There is a tourism grant, which last year we disbursed IDR3.3 trillion and this year we increased it to IDR3.7 trillion as part of an expanded and enhanced social protection program, not only touching hotels and restaurants but also touching travel agencies, destination managers. , and a recreational park,” said Sandiaga Uno.

He said tourism grant funds were given by the government to provide social protection for those working in the tourism sector who were directly affected by the pandemic.

“The pandemic in the past year has put the tourism sector and the creative economy in a dire situation. Moreover, there are 34 million jobs in this sector that have been affected,” he noted.

In addition to providing tourism grant funds, Sandiaga said the government would also encourage labor-intensive programs in the 2021 National Economic Recovery Program (PEN) to open up opportunities for people to get a livelihood. The Ministry of Tourism also has a number of programs such as BISA (Clean, Beautiful, Healthy, Safe) in tourist destinations.

“This is a toilet revitalization program, related to cleanliness, health, safety and environmental sustainability. In essence, we are all out to help the rise of the tourism sector and the creative economy,” Sandiaga Uno concluded. [antaranews/photo traveltext.id]
