PASSENGER TRAFFIC AT ANGKASA PURA I IN 15 AIRPORTS GROWS 12.5%

PT ANGKASA Pura (AP) I recorded a growth in passenger traffic at 15 airports under management of 12.5% or 2,636,175 passengers in April compared to March 2021 with 2,341,188 passenger movements.

According to AP Vice President Corporate Secretary I, Handy Heryudhitiawan in a press release in Jakarta, Tuesday (4/5) said flight traffic continues to increase from February to April 2021, although it is not significant. We urge potential passengers and passengers who travel in air to always be disciplined in applying health protocols at the airport and during their trip, and to arrive at the airport three hours before departure time.

“Aircraft traffic in April 2021 also grew 2.9 percent compared to March, from 29,449 to 30,317 aircraft movements. Meanwhile, cargo decreased 0.6% slightly from 35,766,788 kg in March to 35,546,093 kg in April 2021,” he said.

Handy explained that the highest passenger traffic in April 2021 was at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar (629,715), then Juanda Airport in Surabaya (570,655) and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali (307,258). Ahead of the prohibition period for going home on May 6-17, 2021, AP I recorded an increase in passenger traffic on Friday, April 30, 2021.

The traffic on April 30 was also 18.18% higher than the daily average passenger traffic in April, which was 87,872 passenger movements.

“The trend of increasing passenger traffic at Angkasa Pura I airport often occurs before the day or holiday period. Previously we also recorded daily passenger traffic which reached 100 thousand on D-1 Good Friday Holiday on Thursday, April 1, 2021, which reached 105,612 passenger movements,” he noted. 

On Saturday 1 May and Sunday 2 May AP I airport recorded 96,507 passenger movements and 103,346 passenger movements, respectively.

“We estimate that the tendency of increasing air passenger traffic, especially at Angkasa Pura I airport, will occur until the D-1 period of the homecoming ban on May 6, 2021,” he concluded. [antaranews]
