MICE INDUSTRY PLAYERS IN LOMBOK TO APPLY CHSE PROTOCOL PROGRAM

MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy held a socialization of health protocol guidelines based on Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) for MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition) industry players in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. This socialization activity entered the second phase, which was held simultaneously in three cities that are MICE tourist destinations, including Surabaya, Manado, and Lombok.

According to the Coordinator of Tourism Promotion and Support, MICE, Titik Wahyuni said that the MICE travel health protocol guide is a very important factor. Bearing in mind, the MICE industrial activity has begun to reactivate.

“Therefore, Tourism Ministry initiated this socialization activity so that industry players and stakeholders related to MICE can have the same understanding of the importance of implementing the health protocols that have been prepared in the guidelines. So, MICE tourists who are going to Indonesia will trust and not hesitate to travel safely and comfortably,” Titik Wahyuni said.

Titik Wahyuni also explained that this health protocol guide emphasizes the application of standard procedures for implementing MICE tourism activities that are tailored to the needs in the field. This operational guide derives from the Decree of the Minister of Health regarding Health Protocols for Communities in Public Places and Facilities in the Context of Prevention and Control of COVID-19.

“Through this socialization, it is hoped that it can spur the creativity of MICE industry players who are better than before, accelerate the return to economic growth in the tourism sector, and make Indonesia a MICE destination that has a value proposition,” Titik Wahyuni noted.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Nusa Tenggara Province Tourism and Culture Office, Lalu Mohammad Faozal, gave his appreciation to the Tourism Ministry and all stakeholders involved in the socialization of CHSE-based health protocol guidelines, especially in MICE tourism activities.

“The presence of health protocols in MICE tourism activities is expected to encourage the MICE industry to operate again and remain productive but still safe from COVID-19,” said Faozal.

Faozal said the tourism office had also completed the CHSE certification for each tourist destination in Lombok. We have already given 120 certifications to businesses in the tourism sector. However, it must be remembered that this certification is not permanent, it can be revoked at any time if business actors are not consistent in implementing health protocols.

Likewise, Associate Expert Lecturer of Tourism Ministry, Heri Hermawan said MICE tourism players must ensure that all stakeholders involved in MICE tourism activities adhere to the basic health protocols. Such as measuring body temperature, washing hands or using hand sanitizer, using a mask, and keeping a distance.

Heri emphasized that the CHSE health protocol must be implemented and adhered to properly. This aims to increase the trust and attractiveness of destinations so that tourists are interested in coming to MICE attractions.

“Right now, the most important thing is how to restore public trust. We must maintain health and cleanliness so that COVID-19 can be handled immediately and the tourism & creative economy sector can revive,” Heri concluded. [traveltext.id/photo special]
