THE NUMBER OF TOURIST VISITS TO LABUAN BAJO DURING 2019 HAS INCREASED

WEST Manggarai Regency Tourism Office, East Nusa Tenggara, noted the number of tourist visits to Labuan Bajo during 2019 increased when compared to 2018.

According to the Head of the West Manggarai Regency Tourism Office Agustinus Rinus said in 2018, the number of tourist visits to Labuan Bajo reached 163,807 people, while in 2019 it increased to 184,206 tourists. That the increase in tourist arrivals in the area has an impact on the receipt of regional revenue (PAD) of West Manggarai Regency.

“Indeed, tourist visits to this area have increased every year. Well, this increase in tourist visits has an impact on the acceptance of PAD in this district. For example, if in 2018 revenue from the tourism sector specifically for the cost of levies reached Rp34 billion, in 2019 an increase of about 100 percent or Rp60 billion, “he said.

He added, this increase was very significant because we did control the tourist ships carrying tourists who dive into the seabed. From the data held by the Labuan Bajo Tourism Office, the increase in tourist arrivals to Labuan Bajo is due to the attractiveness of Komodo (Veranus Komodoensis) located on Komodo Island and has become an icon of NTT tourism.

He said that tourists traveling to Labuan Bajo specifically for foreign countries were mostly from Germany, Britain, Spain, Australia and several other European countries.
