ANTICIPATING THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 IN NTB, CRUISE TO 3 GILIS TEMPORARILY CLOSED

MINISTRY of Transportation, Directorate General of Sea Transportation through the Class II Unit Management Office of Pemenang, North Lombok issued a policy of closing tourist in and out of tourist activities in three Gili from Pemenang Port and Senggigi Dock starting March 17, 2020. This final step was carried out following the official decision of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government to close access foreign tour from Bali to Lombok.

According to Head of Class II Pemenang, Heru Supriyadi explained that the step was carried out as a follow-up to a letter from the Head of the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Transportation Agency that was received this day (16/3).

“In connection with this, we have officially closed the Senggigi Dock and Pemenang Port and 3 Gilis starting tomorrow (17/3),” Heru said.

By closing all tourist access to the three Gilis, namely Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno, the closing policy will be carried out at two points, Senggigi Dock and Bangsal Dock by informing all vessels serving crossings from Bali to Lombok.

Heru noted, the worst scenario of limiting access to entrance by the NTB Provincial Government was understood as an effort to prevent the impact of the Corona virus after it became a world pandemic.

So to anticipate the Corona virus, as a form of vigilance, his party told the skipper, owner or operator, passenger ship agents both foreign and domestic fastboats so as not to embarkation and debarkation at the two ports.

“All operators should not embark and debarkate to the third to the Gili and Senggigi passengers, for the next 14 days,” Heru stressed.

The decision was indeed temporary. “Because the governor’s decision must be closed, we will close the three-crossing activity starting tomorrow,” Heru said.

For information, as of today (3/16), the number of people who rose from 3 Gilis was 2,330 people to the Port of Pemenang. [traveltext.id]
