COVID-19, NGURAH RAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT PASSENGER DOWN 19.5%

THE corona virus outbreak or Covid-19 had effects in various sectors, including a decrease in the number of passengers at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

According to General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport Herry A.Y. Sikadopada said that domestic routes decreased 3.5% or 25,000 passengers to 724,898 passengers compared to February 2019. While on the international route the decline was quite high reaching 19.5% with 162,628 passenger difference to 833,855 compared to February 2019.

“The sharp decline in the number of passengers, especially on international routes, is largely influenced by the situation of the spread of the corona virus in many countries in the world,” he said.

On the other hand, Herry asserted that at this time Bali was still fine, and it was still safe to be visited by tourists, by continuing to work to prevent the potential spread of this virus at airports, because the airport is the gateway for passengers and passengers coming from from various corners of the world.

“The best service we will continue to do with the airport community for all airport service users without exception,” he said.

Recorded from January to February 2020 the airport has served as many as 3.68 million passengers and 25,000 aircraft movements. [antaranews]
