LION AIR STERILIZES THE ENTIRE AIRCRAFT TO ANTICIPATE OF COVID-19

PT Lion Mentari Airlines (Lion Air) will sterilize all aircraft operating to improve passenger health and safety. This is in accordance with regulatory policies and international aviation standards.

According to the Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Danang Mandala Prihantoro in a press release stating that as the largest private airline in the domestic aviation market, Lion Air will conduct the process of disinfecting aircraft units in accordance with international procedures and the process is overseen by the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Port Health Office (KKP) which under the Ministry of Health.

“Lion Air demonstrated the disinfection process on Lion Air Boeing 737-800 at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten by spraying disinfectant liquid which includes the cabin, cockpit and cargo compartments under the plane,” he said.

He added, aircraft sterilization was a proactive policy adopted by Lion Air and Lion Air Group as a preventive measure in the face of a coronavirus novel (Covid-19) that hit the world, including Indonesia.

“The commitment to disinfect aircraft is the latest initiative of Lion Air in addition to steps that have been implemented to protect the flight crew and ground handling personnel,” he said.

He explained again, for example mandatory body temperature checks on all ground service personnel and flight crews who underwent medical examinations before being allowed to fly. In addition, medical equipment such as masks and hand sanitizers are also available on board.
