LUHUT: TRANSPORT MINISTRY REALLOCATES IDR320,7 BILLION TO ACCELERATE COVID-19

THE Ministry of Transportation reallocated the 2020 budget of IDR320.7 billion to accelerate the handling of the new Corona Virus outbreak or COVID-19.

This was conveyed by Minister of Transportation Ad Interim Luhut Binsar Panjaitan during a virtual Work Meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian Parliament.

In a written statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday, Luhut conveyed that the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia tended to increase from time to time and cause casualties and material losses as well as implications for social, economic, and community welfare aspects.

“Therefore, President Joko Widodo requested that the Ministries/Institutions conduct refocusing activities and budget reallocation to accelerate the handling of the 19th COVID pandemic,” Luhut explained.

The IDR320.7 billion can be detailed per echelon I unit, namely: the Secretariat General of IDR50 billion; Inspectorate General of IDR4.50 billion; Directorate General of Land Transportation amounting to IDR45 billion; Directorate General of Sea Transportation IDR48 billion; Directorate General of Civil Aviation IDR115 billion; Directorate General of Railways totaling IDR20 billion.

Then, the Transportation HR Development Agency amounted to IDR25 billion; Research and Development Agency IDR4.9 billion; and the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency IDR8.30 billion.

The criteria for cutting the budget itself come from official travel budgets, fees, budgets that are blocked, activities that have not been tendered, activities that have not been contracted, and so forth.

Whereas the budget reallocation is used, among others, to procure equipment and prevent the spread of viruses such as sterilization of workspaces, antiseptic refills, portable sinks and completeness and purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks, hand sanitizers; purchase of immune enhancers such as 1000 mg vitamin C and multivitamins.
