TOURISM MINISTRY WELCOMES BALI AS THE WORLD’S MOST POPULAR ISLAND

BALI’S reputation as one of the best tourist destinations in the world is no doubt. The proof is that in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the beauty of the Island of the Gods has become even more popular and a subject of conversation for tourists on social media.

The famous German travel start-up, Tourlane, on April 8, 2020 released research results, one of which established Bali as the most popular island in the world. The determination uses the search method of the number of fence signs (fences) on Instagram.

During several research periods, the results showed that Bali became the most sought-after destination with the number of hashtags reaching 60.4733.066. The number outperformed the island of Ibiza, Spain, ranked second with a hashtag of 16,320,328, and the island of Sicily, Italy, ranked third with a total of 12,974,059 hashtags.

In response, Minister of Tourism & Creative Economy, Wishnutama Kusubandio welcomed the establishment of Bali as the most popular island in the world today. He said the stipulation further motivated Indonesia to grow new Bali and increase tourism in Bali to be more friendly and sustainable.

“So far, Bali has indeed been known in the world as a natural and cultural destination with Bali tourist attractions that need not be doubted. The appeal of Bali lies in the beautiful landscape, as well as the unique traditions and culture of the people,” he said.

He added, the strength of tradition and culture in Bali undoubtedly became a separate reason for tourists to come in addition to its natural beauty. So no wonder, Bali is very popular in the world.

Furthermore, Wishnutama also explained, it is not without homework that Bali’s popularity is in demand by tourists. Moreover, after the COVID-19 epidemic, the traveling trend will change more towards tourism focusing on the health and comfort of tourists.

“We and the people of Bali continue to collaborate to improve ourselves in facing new travel trends, including the matter of handling waste, sanitation, hygiene, to comfort. The Balinese also have a high awareness of clean tourism,” he noted.

Determination of Bali as the most popular destination in the world is not the first time obtained. Previously, the Island of the Gods was ranked top of the 24 cities in the world as the World’s Best Destination 2017 version of the most popular travel travel review site, Tripadvisor.
