THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy began online training for young people working in the spa business and industry in an effort to upskilling and reskilling their competencies, as well as anticipation of facing a new normal after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Human Resources (HR) training is divided into three classes namely Relaxation Reflection Spa, Primary Therapist Spa, and Intermediate Therapist Spa. The official training starts on Wednesday (5/20) for the spa relaxation reflection class which will last for the next 8 days and then will be followed by other classes.

According to Deputy Minister of Resources and Institutions of Tourism Ministry, Frans Teguh when officially opening the online spa training said the government encourages workers to maintain their expertise and skills during the current pandemic. So that during normal conditions later, they are not awkward in re-entering the workforce.

“The government, in this case the TourismMinistry, continues to strive to provide the best, especially in efforts to improve services and innovations while also ensuring the improvement of the quality of the workforce and tourism practitioners as well as the creative economy. One of them is through online spa training,” said Frans Teguh.

In the training involving teachers from Pacific International Beauty Institute (PIBI), the materials provided were adjusted to the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) in the spa field. This is because later participants are not only expected to be able to improve their abilities, but also towards competency certification.

This is very important in the era of competition in the future. Not only in the national context, but also globally.

“Including in addition to skill, character is also important, expression, how can create ambience that truly reflects the value of our nation’s strength. Hospitality aspects must be considered to be able to give an idea of the image and quality of our tourism,” Frans Teguh noted.

Especially in entering the “new normal” where everyone’s needs will be different. Namely prioritizing aspects of health, safety, and security.

“This must be strengthened so that friends who get the opportunity now get perfect competence. Previous online spa training attracted many interested people. But after the selection process, finally a total of 60 participants for each class consisted of 20 participants,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
