NEW NORMAL, BALI TOURISM PREPARE A NEW STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE

THE normal implementation plan has just been welcomed by tourism stakeholders in Bali. With a note that there must be an integrated ecosystem when the Island of the Gods is truly reopened for tourists.

According to the Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Hotel General Manager Association (IHGMA) Bali Ketut Swabawa said that under normal conditions there would be new hotel standards, transportation and provision of new food. Bali is not about the hotel and airport industry, but all sectors have taken part in this new normal.

He explained, the normal implementation had only been predicted from 3-4 years ago when the Bali bombing appeared. It’s just that this area, nicknamed the Thousand Pura Island, does not yet have a clear framework, so Bali is not ready if industrial activities exist.

“Beginning in June this will only touch medical and logistical personnel, but for tourism standard operating procedure (SOP) has not been established. If the government has established clear procedures and frames for the re-opening of the tourism industry with a new normal concept and provides training for each employee. He said he was optimistic that in July 2020 the sector would be ready to operate,” he said.

Separately, the Chairperson of the Bali Hotel Association (BHA) I Made Ricky Darmika Putra said, when new normal implementation there will be a reduction in seat capacity or service capacity in public spaces by up to 40-50%. In planning, this SOP has been prepared from now on, before guests come for a vacation.

“Later guests who come are very much monitored from the beginning of check-in until check-out again. How the guest process comes with the application of SOPs at the airport, then transportation to the place of stay is also considered. Including when entering using the payment gateway to avoid cash circulation. Afterwards, if guests use public facilities such as swimming pools, restaurants, are required to follow the new normal protocol,” Ricky noted.

He added, when serving guests, employees not only use masks but also face shields and additional glove for restaurants as well as the application of social distancing 1.5-2 meters.

The same thing must be applied when guests visit tourist attractions. He said, at a minimum there must be a place to wash hands and hand sanitizers, and check body temperature. So hopefully in the future, guests can feel the new normal tourism and great experience.

According to him, the government must immediately establish a new normal SOP for the tourism industry. At present the desire of guests to travel to Bali is still very high reaching 50-60%, even though in the Covid-19 situation. Moreover entering August which is the time for a vacation.

“Once the announcement of the flight reopening to Bali, guests also need time to make administrative preparations,” he concluded. [bisnis.com/photo special]
