THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy together with tourism stakeholders in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) prepared a health protocol and Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) welcomed the new normality in the tourism sector and the creative economy.

According to the Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani during a webinar with the theme “New Normal For The Hospitality Industry” explained, the COVID-19 pandemic has created new human behavior where people are much more concerned with factors of cleanliness, health, and security including for tourism destinations.

“Later, all industries will prioritize health protocols, will be put into the first protocol followed by other protocols because we face a virus-based crisis, which cannot be seen in plain view. But we must not continue to suffer and must rise to continue development by formulating strategies, and implementing health protocol SOPs on a daily basis in their respective institutions,” she said.

Giri explained, Tourism Ministry continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Health and related institutions in preparing health protocols and verifying the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures for Clean, Health, and Safety (SOP CHS) properly and correctly in accordance with established standards.

“The CHS movement aims to increase tourist confidence in Indonesia’s tourism destinations and industry after COVID-19 so that destinations will be ready to receive tourist visits, which in the initial stages will certainly be dominated by domestic tourists,” Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani noted.

Meanwhile the Head of the NTB Tourism Office Lalu Moh Faozal said NTB wanted to immediately revive the tourism “engine” that was vacuum due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When the NTB tourism sector reopens there will be five pilot project destinations that will be opened in stages, starting from the Gili region (Air, Meno, Trawangan), Gunung Rinjani National Park, Islamic Center, Mandalika Area, and destinations on Sumbawa Island, Moyo Island.

“The three Gili areas became a pilot project when the tourism sector was opened because there could be better organized how to implement health protocols and the implementation of physical distancing. Then the entrance to the area was determined from the Bangsal port,” he said.

Faozal also explained that Mount Rinjani National Park could be reopened after the Gili region, but needed coordination with the management regarding the capacity and implementation of physical distancing in one of the seven highest mountains in Indonesia.

Then there is the Islamic Center area which is managed under the coordination of NTB Regional Tourism Office. Subsequently, the Mandalika Region will continue to coordinate with ITDC as the manager of the 1,200 hectare special economic zone. On the other side of the destination on Sumbawa Island, Moyo Island.

“The most important thing is, when opening a new normal, the government must prepare the device, be it the readiness of the destination or other industries,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
