ANGELA: BUILDING TRUST IS THE KEY TO ACCELERATING TOURISM RECOVERY

THE Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy is making efforts and steps for recovery in welcoming new normal conditions in the Tourism and Creative Economy sector. There are at least three keys related to the new normal protocol, which are related to Hygiene, Health and Safety (Cleanliness, Health, and Safety or CHS).

According to Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo said that this protocol was not limited to Tourism businesses and Creative Economy that were affected, such as Accommodation Providers, Food and Beverage Services, Tourist Attractions, Tourist Travel Enterprises, Art Facilities Business, and Film Production, as well as other businesses in all sectors of the creative economy that are expected to implement this protocol.

“By implementing this protocol properly, it is expected to increase tourist confidence. This is very important because Gaining trust or confidence is the key in accelerating recovery, so it must be highly considered and implemented. If it only becomes a promotion without action, then the trust that is built can be lost and it will be even more difficult to rebuild it,” she noted.

She added, the implementation of the referred protocol refers to the task force and will go through several stages of ‘pre-conditions’, namely education, outreach, and simulation. In its implementation, the regions will prepare crisis management in monitoring and evaluation.

Angela also explained that his party was preparing a handbook that refers to global standards as a technical guide for businesses in the tourism sector and the creative economy. This handbook is a more detailed derivative of the protocol being developed by the Ministry of Health based on input from the Ministry of Tourism for the tourism sector and the creative economy.

“In 2019, Bali accounted for 6.3 million foreign tourists, with the highest number of tourists originating in sequence being Australia, China, India, Europe and America. It is known, tourists who come to Bali have diverse tourist attraction interests, where the interest in cultural tourism attractions is 65%, nature is 30%, and artificial tourism is 5%,” Angela said.

Angela stressed that Bali is one of the main gates and icons of Indonesian Tourism in the eyes of the world who also experienced the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, I optimistic that the tourism sector in Bali will rise quickly given the seriousness shown by the Provincial Government of Bali and stakeholders and the tourism industry to work together to stimulate tourism in Bali.

She affirmed that in line with the direction of the President Joko Widodo, every other local government must also pay close attention to the condition of the spread of COVID-19 in his area in opening tourist destinations.

“I am optimistic that Bali will revive, especially in an effort to revive the Bali tourism industry. In addition to the good application of protocols by industry players, synergy is needed between the central government, regional governments, Indonesian representatives abroad, the media and all other stakeholders,” she concluded.
