AP II: AIRLINE FLYING SLOT AT SOEKARNO-HATTA AIRPORT NOT OPTIMAL YET

PT Angkasa Pura II will coordinate airline requests for flight slots, flight routes and flight frequencies in one route so as to create a balance with the level of demand from passengers.

According to PT Angkasa Pura II Corporate Communications VP Yado Yarismano said that until now there had not been any airlines coordinating to optimize slots at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. However, airport operators will prepare themselves as one step to provide more diverse flight options.

“Collaboration with airlines also needs to be carried out so that they can enter the recovery period in July 2020. What is certain is that we will adjust the slot settings and coordinate later so that there is no buildup at the terminal later,” he explained.

He added, besides that, the priority for AP II was to maintain the consistency of all stakeholders at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in supporting the application of procedures. Consistent application of procedures is important, because regulations move dynamically according to existing developments. Then, the next priority is to make the traveler feel comfortable to fly and go through the process comfortably.

He also mentioned based on the results of a meeting with the Minister of Transportation and the Director General of Civil Aviation beforehand, it was also decided that the use of technology must be carried out as a solution related to the still limited capacity of the flight slot. Through digital technology, the movement of passengers in the terminal can be smoother and faster so that flight slots can be increased.

“Digitizing checks on the documents required for a traveler to be able to make a flight include identification, flight tickets, and letters of results of rapid tests/PCR tests that are still valid,” he said.

Meanwhile, Director General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation, Novie Riyanto, said that every stakeholder in the aviation sector must support the fulfillment of procedures established in the midst of a pandemic in order to foster public confidence.

“We will see how far this regulation is fulfilled by passengers, operators, and if all these are fulfilled then all parties will believe. The interest in using air transportation naturally will increase gradually,” Novie finished. [antaranews/photo special]
