PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk opens a new route specifically for cargo. The new routes opened include domestic and international routes.
According to the President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said that we opened special routes only to carry cargo, both domestic and international. Furthermore, for domestic routes the special routes opened this year are Makassar, Manado, Surabaya and Medan. Then, for the international routes of China and Japan.
“This strategy is also one of the company’s efforts to survive in the midst of the corona virus pandemic. This is due to the decline in the company’s passenger business line, down by 90%. In fact, the passenger transportation business usually contributes 80 percent of Garuda Indonesia’s total revenue,” he said.
Unfortunately, Irfan is still reluctant to reveal the targets in the cargo business line. It’s just that, previously he said it was hoped that this cargo business line could support the business of 30% to 40%. Especially on an annual basis (YoY) the growth is up to 200%.
Even so, looking at the company’s financial statements in the first half of 2020, the cargo and document business line revenue was recorded at US$119.48 million. The realization fell 28.22% compared to the same period last year amounting to US$166.46 million. [kontan.co.id/photo traveltext.id]
