INTEREST DOMESTIC TOURIST DESTINATIONS PREDICTION FOR THE YEAR END

DOMESTIC tourist destinations that have been popular among travelers are predicted to be still the target for the end of 2020 holidays.

According to John Safenson, VP of Market Management at Traveloka Accommodation, revealed the places that are being sought after by Traveloka consumers. The end of the year in all search destinations is high, especially Bali and places in Java such as Bandung have started to increase.

“Even though the search rate is increasing, the decision to order depends on whether the situation is conducive to a vacation. Even the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy launched the #DiIndonesiaAja campaign to encourage movement from the nearest point (staycation) to between islands in Indonesia,” he said.

He also explained, the movement of tourists is expected to be able to rebuild the economy through consumption of the tourism sector in destinations. I predict domestic tourism will still be a mainstay of travelers next year, what is growing is the distance traveled.

“People who start traveling with a staycation will start to try road trips, then intercity, inter-provincial to inter-island trips. People will slowly start to dare to travel long distances. We hope it will restore tourism faster as guests come from outside the island,” John Safenson noted.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, said that she would continue to optimize the potential for domestic tourism amidst the economic contraction due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We prepare ourselves to encourage the revival of tourism after the COVID-19 epidemic, countries that rely on tourism are also doing the same to restore the performance of their tourism sector,” Angela affirmed.

She added that the Ministry is also trying to optimize domestic tourism potential, including restoring tourism performance by first focusing on domestic tourists. This effort is supported by a safe travel campaign with the CHSE protocol through the Indonesia Care campaign. [antaranews/photo special]
