This program aims to help local governments and the hotel and restaurant industry which are currently experiencing financial disruption and recovery from the decline in local revenue (PAD) due to the pandemic.

“To take advantage of this program, the hotel and restaurant industry players need to understand the criteria and mechanisms for obtaining this tourism grant,” Wishnutama said.

Based on the Decree of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Number KM/704/PL/07.02/MK/ 2020 regarding technical guidelines for tourism grants in the framework of PEN 2020, the criteria for receiving tourism grants include, operating in areas covered by 10 Super Priority Destinations (DSP), 5 Tourism Destinations Priority (DPP), Provincial Capitals, Branding Destinations, Regions with Hotel and Restaurant Tax Realization of at least 15% of the total PAD for the 2019 fiscal year, and Regions that are included in 100 Calender of Events (COE).

“As for the distribution of tourism grant funds with a total of IDR3.3 trillion, which will be given to local governments as much as 70% to be allocated as direct assistance to the hotel and restaurant industry. Meanwhile, 30% was used by the local government to handle the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the tourism sector and the creative economy,” Wishnutama noted.

Meanwhile, Wishnutama said that those who are entitled to receive this tourism grant are hotels and restaurants that meet predetermined criteria, including hotels and restaurants according to the hotel and restaurant taxpayer database in 2019 in grant recipient areas, hotels and restaurants that are still standing and still operating until the implementation of the tourism grant fund in August 2020.

Then, hotels and restaurants that have business licenses, namely a valid Tourism Business Registration Certificate (TDUP), as well as hotels and restaurants that pay and have proof of PHPR payment in 2019.

The grants distributed to each region will become the authority of the regional government itself, starting from the registration mechanism to the announcement, with due observance of the technical guidelines that have been made. For this reason, hotel and restaurant industry players are expected to be able to contact their respective local governments directly regarding further information.
