ATTRACTING TOURISTS, RAJA AMPAT HELD A VIRTUAL ‘FESTIVAL BAHARI 2020’

IN order to intensify the promotion of tourist visits to the tourist area of ​​Raja Ampat Regency, towards the end of 2020, the Raja Ampat Regency Government is again holding the ‘Pesona Virtual Festival Bahari Raja Ampat 2020’ (Marine Enchantment Festival 2020) which held virtually on November 20-21, 2020 directly or from program broadcasts.

According to the Head of the Raja Ampat Regency Culture & Tourism Office, Yusdi N. Lamatenggo said the holding of the festival this time would be more different than the staging of festivals that have already been held. ‘Festival Bahari Raja Ampat 2020’ was held with the theme Natural Sustainable for Health which was packaged with strict and very limited health protocols.

“However, without reducing the festive atmosphere that can be enjoyed more broadly nationally and internationally. For those who want to watch, they can immediately see the official YouTube account of Festival Bahari Raja Ampat 2020 or via Instagram @festivalbaharirajaampat,” he said.

He explained, this year is the 10th and every year he wants to give something different every year. This festival is one way of promotion to attract tourists back on vacation to Raja Ampat.

“In this virtual event which will last for two days, a variety of interesting content which is divided into four clusters is an interesting treat for tourists. The first is superior destinations such as Piaynemo, Kabui Bay, Arborek, Kalibiru, seeing birds of paradise in Warkesi and what is not left out of course is diving or underwater tourism, as it is well known that Raja Ampat is very famous for diving tours that offer panoramic views of the natural beauty under the sea,” Yusdi noted.

Meanwhile, he continued, the second is a special culinary tour made from sago, such as papeda made directly by the Raja Ampat mothers. The third cluster is a variety of dances that exist in Raja Ampat, from new creations to traditional dances such as the Gale-gale Dance and Wor Dance which have received National Intangible Cultural Heritage certificates. The fourth is the handicraft in Raja Ampat such as woven noken and the typical Raja Ampat Manta hat.

“Apart from that, Raja Ampat has implemented 10 new steps in traveling to Raja Ampat based on Governor Regulation No.9 of 2020, and the most important thing is that business people can get back to their economy,” he added.

Yudi emphasized, a variety of assistance was also provided to tourism actors, such as from the West Papua Provincial government which provided support assistance for the tourism MSME sector. In addition, assistance from the central government in the ‘Tourism Grant’ program is provided to 101 city districts in Indonesia, especially for hotels and restaurants that pay the 2019 tax, including in Raja Ampat.
