INDONESIA’S GOVT MAKE SURE TO KEEP PROMOTING KOMODO TOURISM

COORDINATING Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan confirmed that the government will continue to promote Komodo tourism in Komodo National Park, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

He assured that the development carried out in the tourism destination was carried out to be able to maintain the sustainability of these rare animals.

“Komodo is the only one in the world so we have to sell it,” said Luhut at the National Coordination Meeting for the Acceleration of the Development of Five Super Priority Tourism Destinations in Jakarta, Friday (27/11).

Luhut acknowledged that the government is indeed carrying out the construction of the Komodo Island tourism project for commercial reasons. However, this does not mean that the government ignores the preservation of these rare animals.

“There are Rinca Island and Komodo Island, so we just have to decide which islands we might use as massive tourism, which islands we will make into six stars. If people want to go there, they have to pay a premium. it must be commercial because we want to take care of this animal, “he said.

Luhut also asked the NTT Governor to be able to partner with world-class consultants or experts to organize premium tourism such as the Komodo National Park.

Meanwhile, Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir in the Rakornas also explained that Labuan Bajo, NTT is indeed directed to become a premium tourism destination. The directive was carried out so that there is differentiation with other tourism destinations such as Mandalika, NTB.

“Labuan Bajo is expected with a green, premium destination so that it will become a target for itself,” he concluded. [antaranews]
