According to the President Director of AirAsia Indonesia, Veranita Yosephine Sinaga, said the meeting was a continuation of the cooperation with the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government which had started a long time ago.

“AirAsia is happy to have been part of the revitalization of Lombok tourism in 2019 by opening direct connectivity to Perth, Australia and other domestic tourist destinations in Indonesia, as well as increasing the frequency of flights to AirAsia’s hub in Kuala Lumpur which also added around 318,000 passengers to and from. Lombok last year,” she said.

Veranita Yosephine explained that we are sure we will both rise again from the current situation by continuing to work together, making joint promotional efforts for the products and services of the tourism industry players, not only hotels but supporting products such as activities, transportation, and others, to encourage and accelerate economic recovery.

“In October and November, AirAsia has flown 187 flights to and from Lombok with the occupancy rate for several flights in November has reached 70% according to the maximum capacity set by the government,” Veranita noted.

She added that the number of AirAsia passengers visiting Lombok has almost doubled in the last 2 months, and is expected to continue to increase in December. To anticipate this increase, AirAsia has increased the flight frequency for the Lombok-Jakarta route to 14 times per week from the previous 7 times, and has served the Lombok-Surabaya route with a frequency of 4 times per week.

“In addition, Lombok is now connected to Medan via Jakarta, and is immediately connected to other cities. In December, AirAsia has provided a capacity of more than 10,000 seats for flights to and from Lombok,” Veranita concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
