LAMBORGHINI RECALL 221 UNITS AVENDOR SVJ DUE TO HOOD PROBLEMS

THE National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) asked Lamborghini to recall the Aventador SVJ Coupe model due to the bonnet that opens suddenly.

In this case, there were approximately 221 sports vehicles built in the period 4 July 2018 and 15 January 2021, with an estimated damage rate of 100%.

Quoted from CarsCoops, the damage was caused due to excessive heat, the plastic elements of the hood hinges may have changed shape, affecting the torque in the retaining screws which can cause the hood to not lock.

As described by the safety agency, “the hood can open without warning and can completely detach from the vehicle” if the car “moves at high speed under strong vertical and longitudinal acceleration”.

Even though it has a very dangerous potential, until now there have been no reports of accidents that resulted in injury or claimed the life of the driver of the vehicle. Lamborghini only found out about this on 17 February with a report from France, that the rear hood of the Aventador SVJ Coupe had a problem.

To solve all these problems, an authorized technician will replace the hood hinge screw with a new one free of charge. The dealership will be notified on April 9th, and the planned owner’s notice is scheduled for April 9-16. [antaranews]
