INVESTORS ARE NEEDED FOR DEVELOPMENT OF BOROBUDUR HIGHLAND

THE Borobudur Authority Agency (BOB) opens opportunities for investors to participate in the development of Borobudur Highland through the Government and Business Entity Cooperation scheme worth IDR290 billion.

According to BOB President Director Indah Juanita in a press released explained that the development of the Borobudur tourism area is a collaboration between several ministries and central government agencies, provincial governments, local governments, associations and business, academics, society and communities, and the media.

“PPP financing is worth IDR290 billion which includes roads, drinking water, centralized waste water management systems, waste management systems, telecommunications and informatics, electricity, and tourism information centers,” Indah said.

Indah Juanita added that with the support from Bappenas, BOB has had a Preliminary PPP Study and will continue with the preparation of the Outline Business Case (OBC) and Final Business Case (FBC). The person in charge for the cooperation project is the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy which has been delegated to BOB.

“Projects that Borobudur Highland will become a resort-based integrated tourism area, and become a new tourism product in the Borobudur Tourism Area. The theme used is a cultural eco-resort. This area will become a world-class tourism destination, and provide new alternatives for tourists to help spread the benefits of the tourism sector in the Borobudur Tourism Area,” she said.

As is known, the Development of the Borobudur Tourism Area as a Super Priority Tourism Destination includes the Borobudur-Yogyakarta National Tourism Destination; Solo-Sangiran; and Semarang-Karimun Jawa as stated in Presidential Regulation No. 46/2017 concerning the Borobudur Tourism Area Management Authority.

The development of the tourism sector is also in line with the government’s efforts to encourage economic growth in Central Java as outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 79/2015 concerning the Acceleration of Economic Growth of the Kendal-Semarang-Salatiga-Demak-Grobogan Corridor; Purworejo-Wonosobo-Magelang-Temanggung Area; and the Brebes-Tegal-Pemalang area.
