TOURISM MINISTRY ENCOURAGES CONDUCIVE ECOSYSTEM THROUGH GO STARTUP INDONESIA

THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism & Creative Economy Agency encourages pioneering ecosystems and industries while creating a conducive climate of competition, both for foreign startups and local startups.

According to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Wishnutama Kusubandio explained that currently establishing a startup company is an extraordinary and a favorite career choice among young people. For this reason, advances in technology must be utilized together.

“The Ministry of Tourism/Toirism & Creative Econony Agency launched a joint vehicle to create a conducive ecosystem for Indonesian digital startups, namely Go Startup Indonesia. There is a myth in the world that says digital it’s about technology but actually digital is more than just technology, digital is about the people, better serving people needs, then who are the people meant? is our own nation,” he said.

Wishnutama also explained that the development of digital ecosystems must lead to the interests of the nation, national interests, the interests of Indonesia, which in the end was strived to improve the competitiveness of the people. He invited all parties to build this nation into a productive nation through the creative economy.

“The Indonesian people must not only become a target market, digital economic development or startups must pay attention to the balance of digital products and also products, services, and content. Do not let foreign products and brands that will receive benefits compared to our own nation,” he added.

Wishnutama said it would work with the Investment Coordinating Board and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to create equality in the field of competition for foreign applications and local applications. Foreign applications with a certain number of users or revenue in Indonesia are expected to later have legal entities and make direct investments in Indonesia.

“So that in the future we can create fair competition. Not only between foreign and local applications but also other creative economic subsectors,” he said.

Wishnutama also admitted, to realize this, synergy, cooperation and collaboration between stakeholders, both government and non-governmental, is needed as an effort to build a conducive startup ecosystem in Indonesia.

“Through the Go Startup platform, Indonesia is expected to attract investors to invest in the startup. And become a place to promote and measure the capabilities of startups. At the same time it is a place to find a proven market for startups,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
