THE Indonesia’s Immigration Office has made simpler management of passports, from information to passport applications at the Central Jakarta Class I Immigration Office via WhatsApp SIGAP, which was launched in 2019.
According to Head of Public Relations Sub Directorate General of Immigration Sam Fernando said as an institution that carries out the function of public services, we continue to strive to utilize technology and instill a consumer-centered mindset to innovate and provide better services to the community.
“Users only need to send a text message to WhatsApp SIGAP at +628118539333. After that, the applicant will get a reply message containing several information menu services that they want to know,” he said.
It is said, some of the features offered are checking the status of a passport application, knowing the procedure for payment, and the passport application requirements. Furthermore, users can find out the procedures for queuing for passport collection, or simply express appreciation and comments easily.
Previously, the Directorate General of Immigration also used WhatsApp to reduce the queue on the spot. WhatsApp is considered capable of providing comfort and convenience for its users. WhatsApp end-to-end encryption ensures that only users and people who communicate with users can read messages that have been sent, and no one else between users, not even WhatsApp.
“The message is secured with a key, and only the recipient of the message and the user have a special password/code needed to unlock and read the message. For added security, each message sent has a unique key,” he said.
He added, all of this happens automatically, where users do not need to activate certain settings or prepare a secret chat language to secure messages. [antaranews]
