THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy together with all relevant agencies as well as the people and government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) stated they are ready to succeed the 2021 MotoGP Mandalika motor racing as a world-class event.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Wishnutama Kusubandio after launching the Lombok-Sumbawa 2020 Calender of Event (CoE) in Soesilo Soedarman Hall, Sapta Pesona Building Jakarta, Wednesday (1/22/2020) said Mandalika MotoGP 2021 as one of our efforts to raise the destination Mandalika super priority tourism to the world scene.
Minister Wishnutama accompanied by West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Deputy Governor Sitti Rohmi Djalillah explained, the NTB community should be thankful for being blessed with a variety of interesting cultures and enchanting natural beauty including the special economic area of Mandalika which by President Joko Widodo has been designated as one of the 5 super destinations priority (Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang).
“President Joko Widodo has several times visited Mandalika to review the progress of the super priority destination. I myself after being appointed as Minister of Tourism, the first destination I visited was Mandalika in November 2019,” Wishnutama said.
He stressed the seriousness of President Joko Widodo in realizing Mandalika as a world-class destination must be welcomed with hard work including the success of the Mandalika MotoGP 2021 event that will bring the Mandalika and NTB brands to the world level. Organizing the MotoGP world motor racing sport tourism event as one of the fast and effective ways in promoting Mandalika tourism to the world scene.
“Mandalika MotoGP 2021 will be watched by hundreds of millions of TV viewers around the world. This will give the world tourists ‘awareness’ of Mandalika. In addition, around 150,000 tourists who will watch the motor racing live will have an economic impact on the local community, “said Wishnutama.
While the Deputy Governor of NTB Sitti Rohmi Djalillah stated, the NTB government and community were ready to support and succeed the implementation of the Mandalika MotoGP 2021 event. Including the support of accommodation prepared by tourism businesses.
“There are about 10,000 hotel rooms have been prepared. Towards the opening day will be added with glamping accommodation and cruise ships that function as accommodation,” said Sitti Rohmi.
The Mandalika MotoGP 2021 event was actively socialized and promoted in various events at home and abroad. In the launch of the Lombok-Sumbawa 2020 CoE this time also became a momentum to promote the world-class sport tourism event in the “Goes to Mandalika MotoGP 2021”.
Throughout 2020 NTB will hold as many as 16 leading events including 3 events included in the Top 100 National Events namely the Bau Nyale Enchantment Festival will be held on 9-15 February 2020 at Kuta Mandalika Beach, Central Lombok, the Khazanah Ramadhan Enchantment Festival held on April 29- May 18 coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, and the Moyo Enchantment Festival is held in Sumbawa Regency on September 13-26, 2020.
